Schools From 1901-1950
1907 - Avon High School was built on the south side of Clinton Street at a cost of $40,000. The builder was Gus Miller,an Avonite. Mr. Reuben Wallace was the principal until 1918.
1926 - Two wings and a gymnasium were added. Both wings were burned in the fire of 1961.
1929 - Mr. James Green became principal for the next 14 years.
1936 - Two wings were added to the back of the school. These were saved from the fire in 1961. These areas were used for elementary classes for the three years following the fire.
1943 - Mr. Victor Scroger became principal for 3 years. During this time the 12 local school districts located in Avon centralized.
1946 - Mr. Alvin Dunbar became the principal for the next 20 years.
1948 - Avon High School became a Jr.-Sr. High School.
