Historical Avon Inn
Before the Civil War, the Avon Inn was a favorite summer resort for the plantation owners
and the aristocracy of the deep South.
The Avon Inn has hosted the wealthy, the aristocrats, the famous, the infamous, such names
as George Eastman, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone, Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt
and Jonathan M. Wainwright.
Local historians have maintained that, if the history of the Genesee region had never been
written, the eloquent edifice of the Avon Inn would still provide an almost complete
record of the thoughts, beliefs, and aspirations of its time and people.
Mellowing in its memories, the Avon Inn proudly reflects the style and glamour of
America's early life and now awaits to serve contemporary travelers in a nostalgic
atmosphere of dignity and excellence.
